Allenby to play in Australian PGA

<div><p>Australia's three-time champion Robert Allenby is a late entry for next week?s Australian PGA Championship at Coolum, organisers said on Thursday.</p><p>The world number 30, who initially did not plan to play at home this southern summer, announced his intention to play in the season-ending 1.5 million dollar (1.36 million US) OneAsia event after the late withdrawal of Vijay Singh.</p><p>Three-time major champion Singh pulled out last week following recent knee surgery.</p><p>"Following the withdrawal of Vijay I spoke with my family and felt it would be a good idea to add one more event to a busy end of year schedule," Allenby said in a statement.</p><p>Allenby won the Australian PGA Championship title in 2000, 2001 and 2005.</p><p>Allenby, who had three top-ten finishes on this year's USPGA Tour, joins defending champion Geoff Ogilvy, American John Daly and leading Australian golfers, Adam Scott, Rod Pampling and Stuart Appleby in the field for the December 10-13 event on Queensland?s Sunshine Coast.</p><p>Two-time China Tour Order of Merit winner Li Chao and last year?s OOM winner Liao Guiming head a strong Asian contingent.</p><img src="http://admatch-syndication.mochila.com/images/ad.gif?aid=64645407&bid=informcom" /></div><div id="copyright"><div>
